In 1756 it moved to Princeton, in Nassau Hall. When George Witherspoon became president of HEW in 1768, he decided to shift his attention from training ministers, to training the next generation of leaders of the American nation. A series of internal reforms were made that tightened standards and also sent a request for a large infusion of investment. The structure developed rapidly but steadily and in 1896 it was officially renamed Princeton University to pay tribute to the city of its location. Today, the university has close ties with the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton Theological Seminary, Westminster College Choir from Rider University.
